The map is perfectly sized and has a good mix of tarmac and dirt roads. Except I think the EA boys nailed it even better than The Crew 1 (haven’t played The Crew 2 yet). I am not going to lie I think EA staff played The Crew one day and thought “We can do this”. One thing I do hold against this game is the lack of the in car view camera setting. Mr Mike Fernie made an engine sound comparison video between various racing games using an AMG GT where Payback seems to be the winner. Payback probably has the best and most realistic engine sound quality of all the games out there at the moment.
This almost arcade like handling is very addictive. Yes the handbrake is ridiculously overpowered and you can drift at insane speeds but like I said, this is not a simulator. I was playing Driveclub before this which has totally different controls so switching cars the whole time and not getting comfortable with one car was very difficult.Īfter the first weekend however I was loving it. Then your crew gets back together and you choose two cars (one for race and one for offroad) to start your career with.
You then play as Mac giving drifting lessons to some Tigerselfie singer dude in Subaru BRZ, switch to Jess being a bankjob getaway driver in a Audi S5 Sportback. Then a racer scout from The House lends you a modified BMW M5 in a fixed race where you should lose which you win. The game skips six months where you have to deliver Marcus’s Aston Martin DB11 to him, switch to your piece of shit Datsun 240Z. You then escape the cops in the R34 and get caught my Marcus. Then the shit hits the fan and Navarro takes the Regera. You are then in between the Regera and Jess’s M5. Then you realise you are not prepared for the Regera. Then they test you with Rav’s 65 Mustang to prepare you for the race where you steal the Regera. You start with Tyler’s R34 GTR (Race), switch to Mac’s 55 Bel Air (Offroad), switch to Jessica’s new M5 (Runner), back to Tyler’s R34 to finish the first bit. In that first hour or so you are driving back and forth between a lot of different cars. I keep comparing the handling and realism to sim racers which this definitely isn’t.Ģ. The first hour of gameplay was so dreadful I nearly deleted it. Then you wait a year for a new NFS to come out and do it again. I really miss the good old days where the plot of a NFS game was to start as a noob, climb the ranks and race to be the best racer in town until the end credits play. When the trailer for Payback dropped the internet went crazy accusing EA for “going Fast & Furious” or going Hollywood. They love to bet on street racing) and she screwed over the crew and shot Rav the mechanic. Navarro was working for a rich bunch of aresholes who calls themselves “The House” (Casino owners who basically own everything and everyone. They tried to steal a Koenigsegg Regera with special modification from a casino owner named Marcus Weir with help from a woman named Lina Navarro.
Please I have been a lifelong fan of these games and this may seem small but for some people it makes the world of difference especially since it hard enough to unlock all the different part customization anyway. The team consists of four main characters which are Tyler Morgan (whit guy - race and drag), Sean McAlister (black guy – offroad and drift), Jessica Miller (the chick - runner) and Ravindra Chaudhry (mechanic). in your future updates please re-add the capability to do this again as it is seemingly pointless and frustrating to have it removedĪnd takes away a very needed level a depth and separation from other players and car customization. Long story short please I beg of you don't be idiots. Had they kept the ability to change wheelbase width and allow me to stretch the tires it could really give such a bland boring looking car some much much MUCH needed flair. Having it in the game gave you that extra bit ofĬustomization especially for cars that don't have as many body and kit parts as other cars in the game (Honda, Mazda, Etc, Etc).įor instance, let's take the first runner car you get the Audi S5 the car is nice but very very bland and the body part options offer little difference. Try as I as might I cant see why there would be a need to remove this feature. Now these features are tire stretching and wheelbase width in the stance editor.
The Problem I am having is that NFS Payback has removed 2 of my favorite features for seemingly almost no reason.
